New toy for Austin tonight

Picked up an ExerSaucer dealio for Austin tonight. I'll have to post a picture. Hard to describe, but they have one at daycare and he loves it. Lots of gadgets...probably why he likes it! Down the page you see him in the one at daycare...it's a bit different (different "toys") Guess that's good for variety!

Had delicious dinner at Cherokee Sirloin room tonight to bulk up for the cold weather.

Cripes...Saturday looks to be quite cold, but we're getting wimpish I think!
OK..I stole this picture off some web site. I'm too lazy to take my own picture.
The spinner dealio on the front is his favorite part.

COLD

Going to get cold! Stay warm.
Not long till spring, right?

Loren and DeAnna's wedding

I need to go back and touch up these pix, but the bride looks so good, it'll be hard to improve them! Her smile tells it all.

Loren looks pretty darn happy too.

Congratulations you two!

Doggone red-eye is the biggest problem.... ARGH.

comments

Anna...I'll tell Jerrie...and I need to fix that picture so it's rotated correctly!

Kim...It DID pay to wear 4 pairs of glasses. I should try 6 and see how close i can focus.
It didn't really pay, but it SAVED money since I didn't have to take the watch in for a new battery.

Bunch of glasses

Had to put on 4 pairs of glasses so I could focus down to 3 inches to work on Jerrie's watch.

Maybe I should just get the appropriate jewlers loupes? Ya think?!?

Jerrie and Austin at DeAnna and Loren's wedding.

I got to take this bridesmaid home. I was as lucky as the groom! :)

Click on this pic for the BIG version.

SAME for all pics on this site.

The ones on the page are just samples.

Monday Lyrics

Just heard this on Yahoo Unlimited music. One of my favorite all-time songs:

....But from that very first look in your eyesI knew you and I had but one heart.....

Only the album version you'll hear it though (I think).
The single version is WEAK.

New blog site

I'm working on a new blog site that will be more like an interactive forum.

I thought I had it working, but then I didn't work on it for a few days and it seems to be broken!

Darn!

battery

Had to jump start the truck today. Left the lights on at the store.
I still had the old battery that I pulled out of the truck a few weeks back when I put a new one in.

Had a set of cables, so I tried it and it worked!

I may have to charge that battery and put it in a plastic box and leave it in the truck for such emergencies. Strap it down somewhere in back...could be handy.
And THEN..> I need to put in a headlight reminder chime or something.

The stupid truck has OLD fashioned lights, not automatic, no reminder...CHEAP, I tell you.
Maybe it's busted? If it is, it has never worked, but I should check into that.
RTFM might give me a clue too. (read the (fine) manual).

Austin

Austin was helping me work on Exchange server.
He was appalled that we still ran Exch. 2K and not 2K3.

80s Music Source.

Club977.com really does rock for 80s music. As I remember it.

They do a great job with their mix of music.

http://club977.com

I'm also a subscriber to Yahoo music, which is pretty cool because you can skip songs. You also rate the songs and the ones you rate highest can be played more often if you want. Plus I can just call up any song in their library and listen to it. This is like a dream come true (literally) for those of us who used to spin vinyl back in the day.

Of course XM Radio rocks. I listen to that in the car mainly, though it is available over the net.

The other day, for the heck of it, I tried listening to WLTE, KQQL, and KZJK...found spots running on all of them...for about 5 minutes...no music. Oh well, off I went to 107.5 - XM radio.
:) Doggone big-money radio. Austin may never understand the concept of walking into a radio station and meeting the owner. Assuming that there still are stations as we now know them.

I suppose the radio people generations before me complained when the live bands went away and they had to go with that DARN recorded music. (One thing we didn't mind was going to CD's from vinyl) Vinyl does sound good about 2 times worth of play ..then degrades quickly.
Tape! Yes...that did sound pretty good back at WHMH in the early 80s. One format we had on the automation was just AWESOME. Very well recorded. Even the Tanner stuff was a whole lot better than vinyl. At least it was one thing we had over the live stations with their vinyl.
;). And yes, an automated station can sound OK if done right. At least it's consistent and doesn't vary with weaker air talent.

Al and Pat...I think we caught the very tail end of at least the silver age of radio. The bronze age is well underway and tin can be too far away.

Oh...I'm just complaining from an entertainment perspective...the news, community service and information aspects...well....do they even exist?

Just a couple more pics.

More Pix part 1

Pix from the last week or so.

Here's Doug and his latest ride.

Kimmy...not a dunce actually

Well, Kimmy knows she's smart, so I HOPE she doesn't take it seriously.

:)

They never had dunce hats when I went to school.

Not too much ridicule was used.
One time I did have to stand with my nose against the board in orchestra, cuz I failed to bring my violin. Only for like 5 minutes.

Mr. Timmerman...where are you? Actually, he was pretty cool.

For Anna: I like Eggs

What about the code for Eggs?

like this code you mean?

Elvis has left the building and is feeding Austin somewhere in the Western Great Plains.

NO hat for Kimmy.

Maybe a dunce hat!

Who left the comment about my hat?

NO...you can't get one! ;)

Unless you are 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Well, I guess you could buy one, but......

Just out of the bath.

New Pix..finally

OK...well...this blogger program has control of ME tonight.
This is not the way I wanted things to look, but here we go.
I wanted Austin first in the blog.

By the way. Click on the pics for bigger/better versions. I see I messed up the bottom one somehow.

First off....one of the newest 32nd Degree Acient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons in the Southern Jurisdiction! The final night with the 32nd degree on Thursday was awesome.
Gotta love the hat! Now I can go watch some of the degrees again and participate in some in an effort to pick up even a little more light. Minneapolis Valley rocks! Thanks guys.

OK...more pix
............................
Here's Austin and Pumpkin.

Friends...here are at least 3 new pictures. I have a bunch to put out on Yahoo pix, but not done yet.

Austin and Pumpkin today! I love the flannel shirt. Ross would approve!

Austin:
Done with the fist-clenching/hand-wringing phase. We thought he was going to end up with calloused hands.
Has moved on to more holding things and grasping for things...as can be seen above.
It's a great toy Jerrie found for him.

He laughs now more often, though pretty much only for his Mom.

He is discovering his hands and feet are attached and available for inspection.

He want to sit up. Kind of an issue in the car seat. He's always doing "sit ups"

Sadly, he love to watch TV. Just mesmerized by that sad media. Sorry..'no opinions on the news'

Still loves taking baths.
Still likes everyone and is not afraid of strangers.
Is sleeping in the crib and bassinet and falling asleep on his own a fair bit.
He's happy to just lay in there and look around till he falls asleep.

I need to post more of this stuff as I think of it!

I'm outta here for tonight. Getting late, but I have more to write! darn.

Antenna Picture

Here's a picture of my son, Doug, putting the final touches on my little 2m/70cm beam. You obviously can see my Hustler vertical too. And if you look close, part of my dipole. Also, just to the left of the ladder is the 2/440 stick poking up.
My old 6m copper loop is laying on the air conditioner.

Antenna seems to work fine. Great SWR. Scary good...like a dummy load would be. .>>>but it seems to work nicely.

I'm alive!

Yes...I'm still around, but haven't been blogging. Kinda busy, but more than that blogging just fell out of my routine.

Lots of people in town this weekend for Austin's baptism and we're getting ready for that.

Austin...he keeps getting bigger and more fun all the time. He even laughs once in a while now.

We were in Rochester last weekend when I heard and saw him laugh for the first time.
We went down there to "get out of town" and do some shopping and good dining.
At at the Hubbell House on Friday night and at Michael's on Saturday night.
Steak and shrimp at the Hubbell house and ribs at Michael's.
So Austin got to go with us this year on the annual Rochester ritual.

No motorcycle activity, except for me moving it about 5 feet in the garage to get a ladder out.
Got the ladder out to work on my 80/40 dipole...half of which had sagged to the roof and was laying on the roof.
Put the Hustler vertical antenna back up and put radials under it and it tunes VERY nicely now on 40/30/20/15/10.
Mike says I should go for it and put the 80m resonator on. Maybe this weekend. Hope that helps bring the 40m resonant point up about 200khz.
Doesn't make sense that it would, but I'm no antenna engineer.

I'm up to the 30th degree in Scottish Rite masonry. Only 31 and 32 to go! 2 weeks left to the black hat.

Got to attend the Master Mason (3rd degree) at my lodge on Monday. A lot different watching it than being in it! It was great. The past masters did a super job I thought.

No computer projects to speak of going on at the moment. I want to get on some digital ham radio modes this winter with my shiny new vertical antenna.

All is well. No snow yet (that stuck) and sunny warm weather today!
