This one looks cool and safe.
http://www.instructables.com/id/PVC-Air-Cannon/
Basically 2 pieces of PVC pipe with a ball valve in the middle.
One end is open, one end is closed and has an air valve in it.
I'm going to make one like this...out of maybe 1" pipe...not HUGE 3" (potato size)
Mine will shoot these sort of 'projectiles' (about the size of a piece of big chalk).
Air tank valve/tire valve. $1.50 at fleet farm.
Screws into the PVC (after drilling a proper hole...of course).
Ball Valves - 3 to 5 bucks depending on size.
Some PVC pipe and fittings and a cap are pretty much all you need...plus the PVC cleaner and glue.
http://www.spudtech.com/ has ideas.
Father's Day.

furnace update
Older than DeAnna.
Some guy installed back what I was 14 and working on getting a ham license, I suppose.
That guy is probably retired (or worse).
The stupid air purifier is hosed, the humidifier is hosed. Looking around I see why. Burned and corroded wires, which will be removed. I'm sure the end devices are bad too.
Got to drag out my my shiny new 20 year old Fluke amp clamp and meter and found that the fan draws 9.5 amps! Which is normal from what I read, but my God, that's a kilowatt of power! And we let it run year around to keep air moving. I'll be rethinking that scene.
I got things temporarily going with a new transformer and some alligator clip leads.
So the fan is OK, just the control circuitry was bad.
Have to button it all back up after I test the A/C and furnace functions.

Post 1000 in this blog
This is hilarious...to me anyway.
"If I can't help you fix your appliance and make you 100% satisfied, I will come to your home and slice open my belly, spilling my steaming entrails onto your floor." --From ApplianceGuru.com
It would be even more hilarious if I weren't looking for furnace repair info. The fan relay in our fine 1975 vintage furnace has decided to go into semi-retirement and only works occasionally. Took 'er open and found the coil has had some issues with shorted turns. Getting a new one is easy enough and only maybe $30 or less. Decided to pop open the electrial panel in the furnace and found the low-voltage wiring is not too happy in there...will have to replace some.

Rhapsody Music

Is finally working again on all the PC's I have to deal with.
Some are Server 2003 and they were hit or miss before. One of the newer releases appears to have fixed it.
